New perspectives of uncanny interiors.
This collection of paintings demonstrate how i have altered the perspective of the interior spaces to create a different view of the home environment which alters the dynamics of the space and manipulates the viewers perception of these uncanny rooms. The sharp angles place the viewer within the space and focus on certain areas of the interiors which create a disturbed environment and unsettling atmosphere.
Familiar rooms.
I decided to introduce objects and wallpaper into the rooms as i wanted the viewer to connect and identify with these interiors through familiar visual elements such as specific items and furnishings. I have applied actual wallpaper to the surface of the canvas to enhance the texture of the images and communicate the layers of decor which reference experiences within the space such as life, time, and decay. The colour palette has also lightened considerably throughout the process, although i feel the rooms still maintain an uncanny atmosphere.
Further development of the interior scenes.
These images demonstrate the development of my paintings beyond the initial bare structures that were initially created. The introduction of objects, details and various perspectives within the spaces show how the initial basic rooms have evolved.

New Blog
I have started this blog to record my practice as an artist and present images of my current work. My paintings feature interior spaces that deal with the concept of the Uncanny and domestic environments, these pieces are influenced by other resources such as Gothic literature and horror movies.
